In my last article about tour stops and property viewing I mentioned that on my relocation/retirement tours I include a small sampling of properties to give my clients an idea of different types of living situations.
On the second day of my Central and South Pacific Beach Tour we visit Portasol, which is an eco-community located in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica. Only minutes away from Manuel Antonio and Dominical beaches, it offers impressive properties tucked away in the forest with ocean views, different lodging options, property management and many other services.
Portasol´s total area is 1300 acres of which 13 percent is dedicated to a biological reserve, 65 percent for conservation, and 5 percent as common areas such as trails, parks and lookouts. Attention is paid to such details as aesthetics, recycling, noise control, and pets in order to assure the quality of life in the community and to protect the surrounding environment.
Nearby beaches include Quepos to the north and as you move south Espadilla, Manuel Antonio, Matapalo, Guápil, and Dominical. Every year Matapalo Beach welcomes the Olive Riddley and Black Turtles, which arrive to lay their eggs from June to November.
While at Portasol we visit their community park, view waterfalls on the Portalón River which runs through the project, check out ocean view and forest view lots, tour a home and are treated to refreshments by our hosts.
